As a Mother, As a Sister
Everyday, Bushra Hyder works with youth as the director of a peace school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), the volatile Pakistani region along the border of Afghanistan. In an interview in 2011, she talks about how she has found it advantagous to be a woman working for peace in Pakistan due to the culture of respect towards mothers and sisters. “Even if they are not given their rights, they are respected,” she says.
