Women Must Call for Peace in South Sudan

Hilde Johnson, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan, encouraged women to use their roles and relationships to build peace at home. At the closing reception of the Gender Symposium hosted by Inclusive Security before the International Engagement Conference (IEC) in December 2011, Ms. Johnson also asked for the international community to support these women in calling on their male family members to refrain from violence.
